PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROGRAM (PET) The objective of the PET Project is to provide professional development and training for settlement service workers, with a view to increasing skills, knowledge and capacity to deliver client services.
Through the Professional Education and Training (PET) Project, supported by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, OCASI is able to offer support for individual and in-house group training to staff from immigrant services agencies. This training is available to staff whose positions are funded by CIC and MCI.

WHO CAN APPLY
Eligible to participate in Individual Training:
Position must be funded by CIC/MCI. NOTE: Preference will be given to new applicants who have NEVER used PET funding. Depending on the size of the agency, PET will approve up to 5 people per agency, and if approved, be reimbursed up to $750 upon completion of the approved course.
Participants include frontline workers, managers, coordinators, and executive directors who are directly funded by CIC and MCI Programs (Job Search Workshops (JSW); HOST, Library Settlement Program (LSP), Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP), Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS))
Coordinators and Managers in the following programs are also eligible to receive support: • Enhanced Language Training (ELT) • Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) • Staff of an ISAP agency hired to coordinate Local Immigration Partnerships NOTE: Staff on maternity-leave are also eligible
HOW TO APPLY
Application Process for Individual Applicants:
1.The application must be submitted online.
2. You must submit an employment letter to OCASI. The letter must demonstrate a direct connection between the competencies required to effectively do their job and the course(s) chosen.
3.Applicants must undertake the course upon receipt of approval from OCASI.
4. Approved participants must inform PET project staff immediately if they are unable to undertake the course, to enable fast reallocation of funding.
Eligible for In-House Group Training:
ORGANIZATIONS which are CIC/MCI funded may apply for funds to deliver In-House Group Training designed to enhance organizational capacity and knowledge sharing, and, if approved, be reimbursed up to $2000 (for facilitator's fees ONLY)
